It's Wednesday, my dudes. AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH
hey what's up you guys, yes!
welcome back to the blog series of the decade (okno) IT'S WEDNESDAY!!! You know what that means: ITS RANDOM THOUGHTS TIME.
So lately I've been going back to music again. I've been listening to a variety of genres and have fallen in love with new songs once again. And because of this new found inspiration, I recorded a song the other day. It's not finished yet, but I wanted to explain the process of it and how it happened.
I've been covering since 2010. I started back in high school. I recorded my first cover on Acoustica's Mixcraft. I recorded Girls' Generation's Genie there and posted it on youtube. You can find my first youtube channel here. I also didn't upload my Genie cover because of copyright reasons at that time, but I did post the first song that I did right after recording Genie, which was Tiffany's song. CUE THE CRINGE.
I don't have the best singing voice but I do love to sing. and at that time I was so young, I just wanted to sing for fun and post it wherever. I then joined a couple of groups and did music with them and posted them on my channel that I use now. I taught myself how to edit music so I'm a little rusty. I could only learn from listening to a variety of songs than learning effects by watching youtube. I've always wanted to pursue Sound Editing. If there was a course on it in the Philippines, I would've taken it. Music Production is such a huge part of my life and my favorite thing to do that I will do everything I can to achieve my dream of becoming a producer one day. But all in due time though.
But right now, my dreams have to wait so I can focus on it in the future. That kind of dream needs a lot of funding, the equipment alone costs a fortune, but the certificates for editing costs a lot more. I'll have to save up. But I will achieve it, eventually.
So I recorded a song the other day. I've been listening to Taylor Swift's latest album, Lover. and I have to admit I've fallen in love with it. I got obsessed with Cruel Summer so..
I recorded it:
When I recorded the song, I couldn't reach some notes that well. and I couldn't sing too loud because there's a baby in the house. I think I recorded this in an hour... I'm not sure. But this song is really cool. I don't think it suits me at all. The Chorus and Bridge is too high for me to sing. For a Mezzo, it's like trynna kill my throat. I did try my best but at the end my voice was too tired that I was straining.
It's been a while since I've recorded. I haven't done any recordings in a while due to lack of creativity but it's slowly coming back to me. I missed editing and timing music. I plan on covering a couple of other songs but nowadays I just feel like my voice doesn't suit the songs I like so I'll maybe tone the pop types to a jazz/r&b songs. I prefer r&b anyways.
I'll also pick songs that aren't too high or maybe lower the range of some of it so I can sing it well without sounding like dying.
BTW, I loved recording the 'he looks up grinning like a devil' part at the end of the bridge. (2:02-2:204). I laughed so hard after it because it sounded so evil. I added a couple of effects to make it sound raw.
I love making music, editing it, and recording it. I really wanna pursue it. So should I or should i not?
